I was born on 26.07.1974 and have 2 children with my wife Birgit.

Ronja is 2007 and Joe is born in 2011.

I am lucky to live in paradise and even more lucky to be able to do what I love to do. 

I would love to share my luck with you.

Winter:

As a local from Hintertux, snow has always been present and influential in my life. The Hintertux glacier is my next-door neighbor. For past generations snow might have been a curse. For me it is a blessing. Powder snow is my inspiration and my life today.

As a nine year old I played in the snow with the so-called snurfer, the forerunner of the snowboard. This no binding board only worked in powder. I was instantly hooked to deep snow and „snow surfing”. The first snowboards were also much better in powder then on the slope. My outdoor genes were set into the direction I’m following today: 38 years of carving my lines freerider style into the white mountains. First „powder surfing” was only possible on a snowboard, but since the development of the fat freeride skis, skiers are cherishing the same surf feeling – freeriding was born. And I fell in love with skiing.

After graduating form high school I started a technical profession realizing my carrier was beyond pounding nails. I initiated my sports carrier as a snowboard and ski instructor in Hintertux. But freeriding startled me the most, so I passed the very dificult Austrian mountain guide exam to start my own alpine school ROCKnSNOW. For 15 years I have been guiding guest from all over the world through the freeride wonder world of the Hintertux Alps and beyond – I must say: it’s like having a ball with my friends. I never would have thought that working can be so much fun.

Summer:

The mountain jacks up 35 degrees behind my house. The steep forest hides rocks and cliffs. This was my playground as a child. My father showed me how to rock climb and bolder since I am seven years old. The vertical is in my blood for 40 years now.

I do enjoy the water as well and I had a go as a windsurf instructor, but my true love lies in the fascination of the mountains. I discovered „air surfing” for myself and started paragliding and hang gliding. I mastered the tandem licenses to share my summer joy with others and after flying above the entire Tyrolean Alps, I incorporated my climbing, skiing and flying skills to my full time job as a professional mountain guide.
